A wide-reaching job that serves the community
In her role as VP of Project Change, Erin works to provide technology or process change across the organization. This includes giving each employee and member increased knowledge and understanding of how changes will work as they happen. Change doesn’t always come easily to individuals or organizations. But it’s an important part of growing and adapting. This could be a change to policies, a change to technology, or anything else under the sun. She helps make it happen from the top down and the bottom up.
Her job has many facets. She also acts as a sales and service agent for marketing and business development. This work helps RMCU’s communities and members understand the credit union’s purpose and how it works for members to achieve their financial goals.
Erin’s career has taken her on a wild ride to get to where she is today with RMCU. “I have a unique position as I worked with Rocky for five years and then left to be the CEO of a smaller institution and then realigned with Rocky through a merger.” Sometimes, these things just work out that way, and RMCU is lucky to have her back again, working hard to help members meet their financial goals.
Fears around financing shouldn’t hold you back
When it comes to applying for a loan, people might be nervous or have some concerns that Erin can help them work through. She says the most common concern that leads to reluctance in applying for a loan is a lack of education about the process, what is required, and how the person’s income and scores impact the situation.
But fortunately, the way through that is with more information. And Erin can help. “I work to explain all options and inform the member about the product or service so they can make informed decisions to enhance their financial goal,” she said.
Financial advice for long- and short-term growth
When asked what advice she would give to people who are considering borrowing in her area of expertise, Erin’s answer comes easily. “I always want to make sure they are looking at their financial goal, is it affordable, [and does it fit] the need at the time,” she said. The next step is finding a solution. And Erin sets out to help members consider both the short term and the long term, offering a solution to both once she’s taken the time to learn more about their circumstances.
And as someone who loves living in Montana herself, Erin can certainly identify with what other members of the community are going through. “I love to get outside and enjoy the mountains and rivers,” she said when asked what she likes to do in her free time.
One of the highlights of banking with a community credit union like RMCU is knowing that all the employees you work with, from the top down, know and love living in our mountain towns. They understand what it’s like to buy a new car from the dealer down the street, and they’ve hiked the M and floated the Madison too. When you’re ready to find that neighborhood difference, apply to open your account and keep your hard-earned dollars in the community.
