At Rocky Mountain Credit Union, we celebrate and honor the rich history, significance, and spirit of Juneteenth. This day marks a pivotal moment in our country's ongoing pursuit of freedom and justice.
Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, falls on June 19th and commemorates the moment in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, delivering the message that all enslaved people were free, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. This day serves as a poignant reminder that the path toward equality and justice is ongoing and that there is still much work to be done together.
At Rocky Mountain Credit Union, we celebrate the contributions, culture, and resilience of Black Americans. We appreciate their significant contributions to shaping our nation, and we remain committed to promoting financial empowerment and education for all members of our community.
This Juneteenth, we encourage our members to reflect on the progress we've made and the continued struggles for justice and equity. We can all be a part of creating a future where opportunity is not defined by the color of one's skin but by the content of one's character and the fairness of institutions.
Together, let's celebrate freedom, unity, and the ongoing progress toward a more equitable society.
