Ed Stofko Memorial Scholarship

Ed Stofko served as President & CEO of Rocky Mountain Credit Union from 2007 to 2018, growing its assets from $100 million to over $244 million and increasing membership from 11,530 to 21,615. Under his leadership, RMCU expanded into Belgrade, Baxter, and Butte, navigating economic and internal challenges with vision, integrity, and compassion.

Current CEO Cyrus Malkin, who worked closely with Ed, remembers him as a principled, kind leader and dedicated credit union advocate. Ed’s 45-year banking career earned him many honors, including RMCU’s “Boss of the Year,” and left a legacy of growth and stability.

RMCU is proud to honor Ed’s memory through a scholarship in his name—reflecting his lifelong commitment to supporting others and advancing education.

Timeline:

Completed applications (including reference letters) must be postmarked by August 15th, 2025 and sent to the address on the last page (If sent via e-mail, it must be received by 11:59 pm, August 15th, 2025).
The recipient will be notified by August 29th, 2025.
The scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s school in the fall, after enrollment is verified.

Application Requirements

A completed application.
One Essay (detailed below) of 500 words or less.
Three references and a signed recommendation letter from each reference (to be sent in with application).
Certified Transcript of your previous year’s schooling and current GPA.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be: Graduating High School senior accepted to an accredited Montana college, University or Trade school or currently enrolled college student in your freshman, sophomore, or junior year at an accredited Montana College, University or Trade school.
Must be a current member of Rocky Mountain Credit Union.
Must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
