What is an MSR?

When we talk about the important players in your financial journey, there can be a lot of acronyms. IRA, APR, APY, ARM, and ATR are just the peak of the pile. But one acronym might play the most significant role in your financial life of all of them: MSR. MSR stands for Member Service Representative within the walls of RMCU. This could mean the person in front of you is a teller and will take care of your transaction, and it could also mean this person is going to open your new account or share.

MSRs are experts when it comes to your accounts. They don’t just perform your transactions; they can help you with all kinds of needs regarding your RMCU account. And if they can’t help you, there is someone on staff they can call, talk to, and email to get the answer. Here are a few services MSRs provide at Rocky Mountain Credit Union.

Answering account questions

If you have a quick question about your account, need help logging in to online banking, are unsure what your balance is, or need to know how to set up account alerts, your MSR probably has the answers. And if they don’t, they’re just an email or phone call away from getting you the details you need.

Addressing fraud concerns

It can be scary if you suspect you’ve been a victim of fraud. That’s why having an MSR to call or talk to in person at your branch can give you immense peace of mind.

Printing a new debit card

Sometimes you lose your card, or it might have been stolen. When you’re in your RMCU branch to address those possible fraud issues, your MSR can print your new debit card for you right there.

You might be opening your first account with RMCU or helping a family member set one up. Your MSR can help you through the application from the first line on the form to account activation.

Making withdrawals

You have a few options when taking your money out of the bank. Of course, you can use an ATM for some withdrawals. But it's easier to talk to an MSR for large amounts or taking money out of certain types of accounts like your IRA.

Making payments

When it’s time to make payments, whether for your auto loan, home loan, or credit card, an MSR can walk you through the payment, even if it’s your first time making one. Or they can take care of it for you when you’re in the branch or on the phone. Their help is the perfect defense against missed deadlines.

MSRs are the credit union's front line and often the building's hardest-working people. Most of our staff started as MSRs and then received a promotion. RMCU wouldn’t be the community credit union without them. When you open your account or make your next transaction, thank your MSR.
